It is time to debut my Master's Thesis exhibition, the opening event is May 23rd, 1-3 pm.
Samantha (Sam) Wigglesworth exhibits Everyday Existence as Resistance, a body of paintings of trans and gender non-conforming individuals that “seek to foreground the lived experiences, intimacies, and joys of communities that continue to be marginalized within dominant social and political structures.” Motifs of cardboard and tape stress the mundanity and everydayness of the lives and stories depicted in the works.
“My intention is to paint my models as their everyday queer selves, in all their light-hearted and joyous delight as individuals, as an act of resistance.”
Everyday Existence as Resistance opens Saturday, 23rd of May and closes on the 5th of July at the Lake Country Art Gallery.
